Franz Von Soxhlet, after publishing his papers on the physiological properties of milk in 1873 and the mechanism of the production of butter in 1876, published in 1879 one of his most important achievements in the field of lipid technology: He invented a new instrument for extracting fat from milk, which later became widely used throughout the world for extracting fat from biological materials: Soxhlet extractor
Soxhlet extractor sample determination procedure:
(1) Put the filter paper cartridge into the extraction cylinder of the Soxhlet extractor, connect the fat cup that has been dried to constant weight, add ether or petroleum ether from the upper end of the condensate tube of the extractor to 2/3 of the volume of the bottle, pass the condensate water, immerse the bottom bottle in the water bath to heat, and gently plug a small ball of absorbent cotton into the upper mouth of the condensate tube.
(2) Extraction temperature control: according to the specific experiment setting.
(3) Extraction time control: extraction time depends on the crude fat content of the sample, the fat meter is generally extracted 1-1.5h, the sample contains fat extraction is complete, you can use filter paper to roughly judge, from the extraction tube to absorb a small amount of ether and drop on the clean filter paper, after the ether is dry, the filter paper does not leave any grease on it means that it has been extracted completely.
(4) Extraction completed. After the extraction is complete, the ether is steamed into the extraction tube, and the extraction tube is removed before the ether liquid level reaches the highest point of the siphon.
DRK-SOX316 fat analyzer is based on the principle of Soxhlet extraction, according to the national standard GB/T 14772-2008 design of automatic crude fat analyzer, is the ideal instrument for the determination of fat in food, oil, feed and other industries, but also suitable for extraction or determination of soluble compounds in different fields such as agriculture, environment and industry.
Measuring range 0.1-100%, can determine the content of crude fat in food, feed, grains, seeds and other samples;
Extraction of grease from sludge;
Extraction of semi-volatile organic compounds in soil, pesticides, herbicides, etc.;
Extract plasticizer in plastics, rosin in paper and paper plate, grease in leather, etc.;
Digestion pretreatment of solid samples by gas phase and liquid chromatography;
Other experiments for extracting soluble compounds or determining crude fats.
