The Edge Compression Guide Blocks are to aid in the determination of the resistance of
corrugated fibreboard to a load applied in the plane of the board in a direction parallel to
the flutes, ie: parallel to the cross direction of the component sheets. This knowledge
can be related to the compression strength of containers when constructed with flutes
vertical in vertical faces.
The Edge Compression Cutter has been designed and manufactured to cut accurate samples
from corrugated board for testing purposes. This method, which cuts the edges parallel,
is the easiest and most repeatable method of preparing samples for Edge Compression
Testing.
Two sharp, single bevelled parallel blades are located in the pneumatically driven cutter
head. The blades are moved at high speeds to ensure straight and parallel edges with
square corners. Its one step, easy operation is guarded by a polycarbonate safety screen
to protect the operator.
